When we think of destination weddings, Tuscany is often the first place that comes to mind. With its picturesque landscapes, charming villas and delicious wine, it’s no wonder that many American couples choose this region of Italy for their special day. But for those looking for a touch of French luxury and romance, Provence is the ultimate wedding destination in France. Located in the southeastern part of the country, this region boasts stunning landscapes, exquisite cuisine and an undeniable charm that will make your special day truly unforgettable.

The beauty of the Mediterranean landscape as a backdrop for your wedding in Provence

As a destination wedding planner specializing in creating fairytale weddings, I am frequently asked about the most picturesque locations. While Tuscany has long been a popular choice, let me share with you why, in my opinion, Provence offers an unmatched level of charm and beauty that will truly make your special day unforgettable.

Imagine the breathtaking Mediterranean landscape, providing a stunning backdrop that will take your breath away. Picture yourself surrounded by rolling hills adorned with enchanting olive groves and vibrant lavender fields in full bloom. The beauty of Provence never fails to leave a lasting impression, captivating couples and guests alike.

But it’s not just the natural beauty that sets Provence apart. This region is steeped in history and culture, boasting quaint villages and majestic chateaus that showcase classic French architecture. Whether you choose the charming village of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence or the awe-inspiring Chateau d’Estoublon in the Golden Triangle of les Alpilles, each spot exudes its own unique charm, leaving you spoilt for choice.

Let me also mention the magnificent Château de la Gaude in Aix-en-Provence, where the elegant cypress trees blend seamlessly with the exquisite “Jardins à la Française”. The combination of refined beauty and breathtaking views will undoubtedly create an enchanting ambiance for your wedding celebration.

However, the appeal of a wedding in Provence extends beyond its stunning scenery. Indulge in the tantalizing local cuisine, complemented by exquisite wines, and experience the warm hospitality that is characteristic of this region. Saying “I do” in Provence is an experience that goes beyond the ordinary, offering a perfect blend of natural splendor, cultural richness, and culinary delights.

While Tuscany may indeed be a beautiful location, if you want your wedding day to be truly unforgettable and filled with romance, there’s no place quite like Provence to bring that dream to life. Let me help you create a wedding celebration that surpasses your expectations and leaves you with cherished memories for a lifetime.

Provence’s advantage: accessibility

When it comes to choosing the perfect destination for your wedding, there’s no denying that Provence is a must-consider option. And while it can be tempting to compare it to Italy’s Tuscany, there’s one clear advantage that makes Provence the standout choice: accessibility. With not just one, but two international airports within a 45 minutes of a drive, as well as two additional airports for those arriving via private jet, getting to Provence has never been easier. And when you’re planning a wedding, that’s not something to overlook.
You want your guests to be able to join you with ease and not have a 3 hour drive from the airport, like it is in Tuscany, without having to worry about complicated travel arrangements. So whether you’re dreaming of a picturesque outdoor ceremony or a romantic reception at a beautiful chateau, Provence is the perfect place to say “I do”.

French luxury and elegance for your wedding in Provence

When it comes to wedding destinations, Provence reigns supreme. This picturesque region in France exudes luxuryelegance, and charm, making it the perfect location for your dream wedding. It combines the flavors of the local produce with Michelin-star quality seasonal dishes, ensuring a memorable feast for you and your guests. From delectable appetizers to mouthwatering main courses and decadent desserts, every bite will be a celebration of Provencal gastronomy.

Imagine walking down the aisle surrounded by exquisite organic and aerial floral arrangements that showcase the natural beauty of the region. The fragrance of blooming flowers will fill the air, creating a magical ambiance that will take your breath away.

And let’s not forget about Art de la Table, the French mastery of tableware. In Provence, every table setting is a work of art, meticulously arranged with elegant plates, crystal glassware, and polished silverware. The attention to detail is impeccable, ensuring that your guests will be impressed by the exquisite table settings that grace your reception.

Choosing Provence for your wedding celebration means choosing an experience that is truly unique, beautiful, and unforgettable. French gastronomy, synonymous with refinement and sophistication, truly comes alive in the heart of Provence. Here, food is not merely a necessity – it is a serious affair, a celebration of life’s finest pleasures. Provencal cuisine is renowned for its fresh, local ingredients and delicate flavors. Bride in love at their wedding in Provence

Lily and Oliver’s wedding weekend began with a charming welcome dinner at a quaint local vineyard, where guests were introduced to the finest wines that Provence has to offer. The rustic ambiance of the vineyard, combined with the warmth of the setting sun, gave the evening a magical aura that set the tone for the days to follow.

The wedding ceremony was held in the village, Fontvieille – one of the most ancient and gorgeous villages in Provence. There’s no doubt this place belongs to the Golden Triangle, made of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence + Les Baux-de-provence and Fontvieille. As Lily walked down the aisle in her exquisite dress, there wasn’t a single dry eye in the crowd. Oliver, looking dapper in his tailored suit, greeted her with a love-struck smile. Their vows, heartfelt and sincere, were a testament to their deep love and commitment for each other.

Following the touching ceremony, guests were ushered into the grand reception garden named “le Jardin des Fêtes”. Its natural gardens combined with very selected rentals we picked at our favorite partner, brings something magical as the sun starts to go down. The floral décor, yet timeless and simple , projected an air of royal elegance. The caterer rose to the occasion, presenting a lavish spread of French cuisine that was nothing short of a culinary delight. Each dish was crafted with precision and artistry, delighting guests with their flavor and presentation. The evening was further enhanced by a strolling band that performed a mix of classic and contemporary numbers, keeping the dance floor lively and full.

The wedding festivities concluded with a relaxed brunch the next day. Set in the Chateau’s pool and picturesque gardens, it was a casual affair that allowed guests to mingle, reminisce about the wedding, and bid their goodbyes. The menu featured traditional French pastries, fresh fruits, and an array of cheeses, providing a fitting end to a weekend of lavish dining.

The hotel accommodations selected for the guests were nothing short of exceptional. From the plush, comfortable rooms to the attentive service, every detail was taken into account, ensuring guests a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The easy accessibility of the venues and the professional, friendly hotel staff added to the overall positive experience, making the wedding not just a memorable event for Lily and Oliver, but for every single guest.

Lily & Oliver’s wedding in Provence was a perfect blend of romance, tradition, and luxury. Every aspect of the wedding was thoroughly planned and flawlessly executed, ensuring that the couple and their guests had a truly unforgettable experience. Provence, with its natural beauty and French elegance, was indeed the perfect choice for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

If you’re an American bride-to-be contemplating a magical destination wedding, look no further than Provence. While Tuscany, with its scenic landscapes, delightful villas, and renowned wine, may often top the list of destination weddings, the real gem for those seeking an infusion of luxury and romance is undoubtedly Provence. Situated in France’s southeastern corner, this region is a spectacle of splendid landscapes, superb cuisine and a matchless charm that promises an unforgettable wedding day.

When the scales of preference are tipped, Provence outshines Tuscany with the enchanting allure of its quintessential French charm. Where Italy’s rustic charm may capture hearts, the elegant luxury of France in Provence steals them away. Imagine this scenario as deciding between an Italian wine and a French champagne; both have their distinct qualities, but if you value finesse and elegance, the French champagne, like Provence, wins hands down. So, in the contest of choosing a destination for your wedding between Tuscany and Provence, Provence emerges as the clear winner. Remember, wherever you choose to celebrate, relishing every moment of your special day is paramount.
